My name is Mick Hollins and I’m a software developer. I’ve spent most of my adult life coding in static languages such as C++/Java, focusing on relatively low level stuff such as implementing virtual machines, compilers, and database systems.

Throughout that time I could never understand how these dynamic language guys just “didn’t get it”. I’ve finally decided to get out from under the rug and give dynamic languages a real go, and so far … I’m loving it. In particular, I’ve been programming in Ruby and have been using the Rails framework to develop web sites.

I will hopefully get to write more about my experiences with dynamic languages over the next couple of years.
